About Andy Saunders
History
As a former manager in a large manufacturing company, Andy understands the practical needs of business and can offer advice to small businesses on balancing business needs with legal and ISO9000 requirements. Andy worked for several years for Agilent Technologies, a major international opto-electronics components manufacturer, where he was responsible for setting up and managing systems for quality, safety and environmental protection.
Quality and Safety
Andy personally developed the Quality Management System for the Ipswich site of Agilent Technologies when it started (as BT&D Technologies), gaining registration to ISO9001 in 1990. He went on to manage the EHS (Environment, Health and Safety) organisation for the company when it was purchased by Hewlett Packard, and supervised the registration of the company's newly developed Environmental Management System to the ISO14001 standard. During this time the company also achieved a number of gold awards for safety from ROSPA for its health and safety performance.
Qualifications
Andy is a Chartered Electrical Engineer, who has a First Class Honours degree in Physics from the University of East Anglia and a Masters degree in Semiconductor Technology and Microelectronics from the University of Southampton. He worked in the semiconductor industry as an engineer and project manager, in the fields of integrated circuit assembly and hybrid microcircuits, before moving into the field of quality management. He also holds a Diploma in Management Studies (DMS), and is a Fellow of the Institute of Quality Assurance (FIQA).You can contact him at:-
